My Skincare Saviours

image

Throughout the exam period it has been impossible to continue blogging, and it’s also been very difficult to maintain a good skincare regime. Now all my exams are over, it’s back to the blog and time to give my skin some well deserved love! You’ve probably seen me talk about these products hundreds of times before, but I just love them so much… So without further ado, here are my current skincare favourites!

imageSimple Kind To Skin Sunkissed Moisture Cream:

This is definitely a summer moisturiser that I can’t live without. I recently picked this up on offer in boots and haven’t put it down since. Because I’m not a fan of the Simple Hydrating Moisturiser, I didn’t have high hopes for this product, but it sure did prove me wrong. This moisturiser has a light consistency but it also feels rich and hydrating on the skin. It is absorbed instantly leaving the face smooth and glowing, and if that’s not enough, it builds to a subtle, gradual tan that looks both healthy and natural. Love love love!

imageNeutrogena Spot Stress Control 3-in-1 Daily Cleansing Lotion:

This is definitely another product that surprised me, but for the better of course! When I spotted this product I was thinking it would be like a toner and work by drying out any areas with spots, in order to help fight them. These aren’t typically my favourite types of toner, but I decided I should buy it anyway. When I first used it, I was shocked at how smooth and hydrating it felt on my skin as it was certainly not what I was expecting! Although the tangy smell initially made me have doubts, I was surprised at how gentle it felt and it didn’t make my face sting one bit. I am super impressed with this and love to use it every night after removing my makeup, and in the mornings to make sure my face is super clean and oil free before applying any makeup.

La Roche Posay Rosaliac AR Intense:

I’ve always had rather red skin on my cheeks and along the side of my face, and although it could have been much worse, imageit did make applying makeup pretty difficult as I could never quite cover it up. I saw this moisturiser on offer in boots so decided I better get it while it was cheaper, as I’ve always been reluctant to pay full price for it! After reading mixed reviews on this product, I was a little apprehensive but it sure did not disappoint me. The formula is almost gel-like and a little goes a very long way. It glides on really effortlessly and absorbs super fast. I’ve only been  putting this product on the areas of redness around the edges of my face because I find it is not as hydrating as some of my other moisturisers, but I really don’t mind because it has improved my skin so much! And when I say that, trust me I’m not exaggerating! Before discovering this moisturiser, even foundation couldn’t cover the redness, but now I can go out wearing just powder, or even no makeup, and the redness is virtually undetectable! I know this product is not overly cheap, but it really does work, so I definitely recommend it if you are struggling with redness.

L’oréal Skin Perfection Cleansing and Perfecting Milk:

imageThis is definitely my favourite makeup remover, and they definitely weren’t lying when they put “skin perfection” in the name. This works beautifully to remove makeup, especially when used with a cotton pad, and leaves my skin feeling extremely soft and velvety smooth. My skin also looks visibly better after using this, and it glides on so well that it doesn’t pull or irritate my skin one bit. I’ve been using this every night to take off my makeup as I find it is just so quick and easy to use too!

Witch Overnight Clearing Serum:

I discovered this product when I was having a serious skin crisis and was in need of a quick fix for my spots. I would usually imageopt for a spot gel that only targets the problem area, as they usually tend to be quite drying. However, I decided to try a moisturiser in the hope that it would not only clear my skin, but keep it clear. This moisturised has done exactly that and it has surprised me that it is so moisturising at the same time. While I like to apply my redness moisturiser on my cheeks, I find this is really good to apply to my fore head and chin as this is where I tend to get any spots. I’ve really been loving this moisturiser and my skin has been looking noticeably better since using it.

Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1:

imageI love applying face masks and packs, but I rarely have time to leave them on as they just take so long to dry. And if I add in the time taken for cleansing and exfoliating, that’s easily a good 30 minutes spent on my face. During the exam season I certainly had to time for this, which lead me to fall in love with the Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1. This product is a cleanser, exfoliator and mask all in one and it does wonders for my skin. I always liketo leave it on as a mask as it only takes 3 minutes to dry, which is just amazing. The scrub doesn’t feel harsh on the skin but you can really feeling it declogging your pores, which I love. When I wash off the mask I can instantly see that my skin is visibly smoother and my pores look tighter. It also does a really good job at mattifying my face, without drying up my skin.

The Body Shop Skin Clearing Toner:image

This has been one of my staples for a while now. I love that you have to shake it to “activate” it as you can really tell that it is working. The cool feeling you get when it is applied is also another sign that it is amazing at its job. There’s not really much I can say about this toner, other than that it mattifies, refreshes and clears my skin, all while being super gentle.

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer:image

I was very intrigued when I saw this product on the shelves so I just had to buy it. The formula is very cooling and “wet”, which may sound strange, but on the skin it is super hydrating and absorbs instantly, leaving a smooth canvas for applying makeup. I like to use this in the morning as it is very refreshing and leaves my face hydrated all day, as well as providing the perfect base for my makeup.

Malibu SPF 30 Moisturing Lip Care:image

I have both the vanilla and tropical flavours and they both smell AMAZING! I love that they both have SPF 30, making them perefct for the summer, and they are both very moisturising too, which is why the have been my favourite lip care product over the past few weeks.

DIY: Hair Chalking 🌈

imageimageimage

Dye your hair with chalk!:

If you have blonde or light brown hair, you can skip steps 1-4, but if you have darker hair you may want to follow these steps if you want your chalk to appear bold and bright. However it is optional.

Step 1-4: Lightening:
Follow these steps if you have darker hair and want the chalk to be bold and bright.

you will need:

    • SunIn spray
    • A towel
    • A hairdryer (optional)
    • Rubber gloves (optional)

1. Start by washing your hair as usual. Then do a strand test using your SunIn to make sure you get the desired effect. To do this, take a small section of hair about 1/2″ thick and separate it from the rest of your hair. Then spray the SunIn generously on the end of your hair, blending upwards to about halfway.

2. Once you have completed the strand test, dry it with a hairdryer (or let it dry in the sun) to see the effect. (You can always repeat the previous step if you want it lighter, but remember it will continue to lighten as long as it is exposed to heat).

3. If you are happy with the strand test, repeat step 1 all over the end of your hair, remember to blend upwards with your fingers to avoid any harsh lines.
4. Now finish by drying your hair all over to activate the lightening effect.

You are now ready for the chalking…check out the images below for inspiration!

Step 5: Chalking:

you will need:

  • Hair chalks or artist soft pastels
  • A towel
  • A hairdryer
  • Water
  • Rubber gloves (optional, but your hands will get messy)
  • A brush or comb (optional)
  • Straighteners or a curling wand (optional)

5. Start by taking a small section of hair that you want to add colour to and wet it, either with a spray bottle or your fingers, then tightly twist it all the way down. Now, taking your chosen colour of pastel or hair chalk, begin to rub it up and down the twisted strand of wet hair. (Remember to check that you have covered all sides of the strand with the colour).  Once you are happy with the colour, dry it with a hairdryer until you can rub it with little or no colour transferring to your hands.

You can now repeat this process with any colour on whatever section of your hair you want! You can also go ahead and straighten or curl your hair, as the heat will help set the colour.

Bucket List🌿

What is a ‘Bucket List’?

So, if you’re not familiar with the term ‘bucket list’, it’s basically a list of all the places you want to visit, goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfil and things you want to experience before you “kick the bucket”…

image

Why Create a Bucket List?
If you don’t live your days by personal goals and plans, chances are you spend most of your time caught up in a blur of everyday activities. Ever feel your days are passing you by without anything worth sharing? What did you accomplish in the past 3 months? What are your upcoming goals for the next 3 months? Look at the things you did and the things you’re planning to do next – Do they mean anything to you if you are to die today? Having a bucket list reminds you of what’s really important so you can act on them.

Even if you frequently live by goals or to-do lists, they are probably framed within a certain social context e.g. performance, career, health. A bucket list opens up the context. It’s a forum to set anything and everything you’ve ever wanted to do, whether it’s big, small or random.

It’s just like planning ahead all the highlights you want for YOUR whole life!

The objective of creating this list isn’t to instill some kind of a race against time or to create aversion toward death. Our existence isn’t limited to just our years on earth – our lifespan is but a short speck of our existence in the universe.

The whole point of creating your list is to maximize every moment of our existence and live our life to the fullest. It’s a reminder of all the things we want to achieve in our time here, so that instead of wasting our time in pointless activities, we are directing it fully toward what matters to us.

image

So you’re ready to start your very own list of everything you want to experience during your existence, but don’t know where to begin? Just grab a pen and paper, or open a word document and start jotting down everything you think of when you read the questions below. Yes, it really is that simple!

  •  What if you were to do tomorrow? What is something you wish you’d have done?
  •  What would you do if you had unlimited time, money and resources?
  • What have you always wanted to do but have not done yet?
  • Any countries, places or locations you want to visit?
  • What are your biggest goals and dreams?
  • What do you want to see in person?
  • What achievements do you want to have?
  • What experiences do you want to have/feel?
  • Are there any special moments you want to witness?
  • What activities or skills do you want to learn/try?
  • What are the most important things you can ever do?
  • What would you like to say/do together with other people?
  • Are there any specific people you want to meet in person?
  • What do you want to achieve in the different areas: social, love, family, health, career, finance, spiritual?
  • What do you need to d to lead a life of the greatest meaning?
