I was scrolling through my feed the other day and saw a lot of “My Morning Routine” posts and decided to read a few, me being nosy and all! I thought they would just be an account of the bloggers mornings, but they seemed to have questions that they answered. I was rather intrigued, so I thought “why not answer them myself”, so I decided that is what I will be doing today!
What time do you wake up?
On school days I wake up at 5:50 and on the weekends I wake up any time between about 6 and 8:30
Do you use an alarm to wake you up in the mornings, and if so do you ever hit the snooze button?
I have 2 alarms set on my iPad. The first is at 5:50 and the second is at 6:00. I never hit the snooze button though!
What is your morning routine?
Once I’ve got up at 6 o’clock, I’ll grab my jumper and slippers as the mornings get a little chilly. I’ll then tie my hair up and start my skincare routine. (I won’t go into detail, that can wait for another post!). Once my skincare is complete, I’ll then move on to my makeup. On a school day, I usually spend about 20 minutes on skincare and makeup, then sort out my hair.
The time I take on my hair often varies quite a bit. If I plaited it the night before, I can sometimes just unplait it in the morning and it will look decent enough for school, meaning I can spend the remaining time designated to “hair” on my iPad, or doing any last minute homework! Unfortunately, on other days I’m not so lucky… If I’m having a bad hair day, or I actually need to make my hair look half decent (which usually involves either curlers or straighteners) it will take about 20 minutes. I’ll then get in my uniform and go down for breakfast at 6:45. I usually have pancakes with Lotus biscuit spread, or frosties for breakfast.
After breakfast I’ll then go back upstairs, brush my teeth and sort out my books and pack my bag. I’ll then usually sit and check Facebook, twitter, emails etc on my iPad, before leaving for school at 7:30.
How long have you stuck to this routine?
I’ve been sticking to this routine for about 3 years.
Do you see to email first thing in the morning, or leave it until later in the day?
Because my alarm is on my iPad, I usually check my emails, snapchats etc between my two alarms, as I’m already awake.
How soon do you check your phone in the morning, either for calls/messages or social media and news?
I hardly use my phone tbh, and it’s almost always out of battery anyway!
What are your most important tasks in the morning?
Last weekend, when out and about in Bury, I spotted The Body Shop and decided to have a look inside as I haven’t been in for quite a while. The Body Shop is one of those brands you can never go wrong with…there is a huge variety of scents for everyone, and a really good price range too! My favourite scents are chocomania, coconut, moringa and Madagascan vanilla flower. Although they were the only scents I’d used, I recently discovered the magical world of the Teatree range.
My skin isn’t normally too problematic. However, I tend to get breakouts on my forehead and chin quite often. Although I do already use products that appear to keep my skin under control (well, most of the time!), I still decided it was time to update my skincare regime.
The body shop were having a special 1-day 3 for 2 offer on most items in the store, so I decided it was the best place to go, especially since their products are all natural (and cruelty-free) and wouldn’t create more problems for my skin! When I spotted the Teatree shelf, I saw that it was especially for ‘blemish prone skin’ so decided this would be the best range to opt for. Because it was 3 for 2, I picked up the teatree toner and facial wash, and then the teatree body wash as I sometimes get a few spots on my back that I’d like to get rid of. I was so impressed with the price (£5 for 250ml bottles of the face wash and toner and £6 for 250ml of the body wash) and recieved a £10 off voucher for October, so I will definitely be repurchasing these items again next month!
Okay anyway, lets get on to my thoughts about my purchases…
I know I’ve only had these products for a week, but they have honestly already worked so well that I just have to do a first impression of them! Before using them, I wore a BB cream every day for school as I had some spots and redness to cover, and my face just looked dull without it. But since I first used the toner and face wash, I’ve just been wearing powder! Now anyone who knows me would know that I would never usually go without foundation or BB cream, but this teatree stuff literally transformed my skin overnight! It may sound like I’m exaggerating, but I’m honestly not- I got home and took off my makeup for bed, before washing it with my new face wash and following with the toner, and my usual moisturiser and pore minimising serum (reviews to come soon). When I woke up in the morning, I could already see the difference. My skin tone looked more even and glowing and the redness had been taken away from my spots so I could hardly even see them!
After a week of using the two products together, I have already seen some great results and people have told me how nice my skin looks….and that’s without the foundation! I really am amazed that I have finally found a product that works for me and I look forward to seeing the results after I have been using it a little longer! If you have oily skin or are prone to blemishes, I definitely recommend you check out the teatree range. You will be amazed!
Many animal lovers out there are against animal testing and want to find a way to go cruelty-free, but with so many products out there, it can be a struggle to tell which companies are lying about their cruelty-claims. Also, there are so many products we use on a daily basis that are tested in animals, including toothpaste and batteries, that most people don’t even know about!
Although it is hard to go completely cruelty-free, you can make a good start by only buying beauty products that are not tested on animals. Animals should not have to suffer for the unnecessary vanity of humans.
I have compiled a list, as seen below, of some beauty and cosmetics brands, most of which can be found in UK and/or USA that are 100% cruelty free. So next time your shopping, don’t forget to look for PETA’s bunny sign!

I have to admit, I went through a phase of being a total hair addict and my collection of products is starting to become quite extensive. Because I have so many hair products, I couldn’t possible pick my 5 individual favourites, but I tried my best! Some items have been grouped, but for the sake of this post, lets just pretend I only chose 5 items, okay? 😂
My Hair Hotlist:
(In no particular order…)
1. L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray-
This is by far my favourite hairspray! Being someone who is frequently in stage shows or theatre classes, it is essential that my hair is not only looking neat and tidy, but is secured away from my face, and will stay that way all day! When doing my hair, there is nothing worse than using a hairspray that makes it feel sticky or rock solid, and leaves grooves in the hair from every bristle of your brush. Even worse are those cheap hairsprays that leave all your baby hairs sticking out like spikes in every direction possible- not a good look! Luckily, this hairspray by L’Oreal doesn’t do that. It leaves my hair soft but held in place, and still brushes out really easily after shows or classes. I love it!
2. TRESemmé Breakage Defence Masque-
This pot of pure magic was a complete bargain. I got it on offer from superdrug and paid only £2 for a huge 500ml pot! Usually I’m not lured in by brands claims that they can mend your hair in just 2 minutes, o they can instantly stop breakage. But this pot was only £2 so I just had to get it. And I’m so glad I did! Honestly, I don’t know if it has stopped my hair from breaking, or if any product can actually stop my hair breaking, but it sure did leave my hair feeling soft and in much better condition. Love, love, love!
3. Batiste Dry Shampoo-
Good ol’ Batiste saves the day once again! Okay, so no girl can live without dry shampoo, right? Whenever I go away for a few days, or go camping I always make sure I have dry shampoo at hand! I even love using it to give my hair a bit of added volume when I tie it up. I’ve tried quite a few brands of dry shampoo, but I always end up going back to Batiste because they have such a range of products and scents, and I love the packaging! It’s super easy to spray into the hair and rubs in really nicely, so your hair gets an instant pick-me-up, without any embarrassing white patches. My favourites are the blush scent, the XL Volume and the Brunette dry shampoo!
4. TRESemmé 7 Day Smooth Heat Activated Treatment-
I first saw this product on YouTube when Zoella used it in a video, so I obviously had to try it! At first I was a little put off by the price, but a few days later Superdrug had some amazing offers and I managed to pick it up for only £3! Having frizzy hair, I wasn’t expecting this product to work, but wow was I wrong! After washing my hair I usually just plait it and leave it to dry overnight, although when I wake up and take the plaits out it can look a bit frizzy. After applying this product for the first time, I went ahead and plaited my hair as usual before bed. In the morning, I then straightened over the p,airs a few times in the hope it would activate the treatment, and it worked great! My hair was super smooth and soft, but still wavy! And my split ends were so smooth I could hardly see them! I also love how little product you need because it lasts 7 days, so I will definitely be able to use this for quite a while before repurchasing!
5. Aussie Haircare Range-
When my hair is in need of a treat, I definitely reach for Aussie! Although these aren’t all the Aussie products I own, these are just the few I have been loving to use together at the moment. My favourite thing about Aussie is definitely the smell! Whenever I use them, I sit at school all day smelling my hair- I must look rather odd! But they just smell SOO good! Especially the 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor and Luscious Long range 😍 In addition to the gorgeous smell, all the products also leave my hair super light and soft, which I love! The often have great offers on too! Whenever it’s 3 for £10 I can’t resist picking up some ore of their products!
