Skincare Saviours ⭐⭐

My Skincare Saviours

Throughout the exam period it has been impossible to continue blogging, and it’s also been very difficult to maintain a good skincare regime. Now all my exams are over, it’s back to the blog and time to give my skin some well deserved love! You’ve probably seen me talk about these products hundreds of times before, but I just love them so much… So without further ado, here are my current skincare favourites!

imageSimple Kind To Skin Sunkissed Moisture Cream:

This is definitely a summer moisturiser that I can’t live without. I recently picked this up on offer in boots and haven’t put it down since. Because I’m not a fan of the Simple Hydrating Moisturiser, I didn’t have high hopes for this product, but it sure did prove me wrong. This moisturiser has a light consistency but it also feels rich and hydrating on the skin. It is absorbed instantly leaving the face smooth and glowing, and if that’s not enough, it builds to a subtle, gradual tan that looks both healthy and natural. Love love love!

imageNeutrogena Spot Stress Control 3-in-1 Daily Cleansing Lotion:

This is definitely another product that surprised me, but for the better of course! When I spotted this product I was thinking it would be like a toner and work by drying out any areas with spots, in order to help fight them. These aren’t typically my favourite types of toner, but I decided I should buy it anyway. When I first used it, I was shocked at how smooth and hydrating it felt on my skin as it was certainly not what I was expecting! Although the tangy smell initially made me have doubts, I was surprised at how gentle it felt and it didn’t make my face sting one bit. I am super impressed with this and love to use it every night after removing my makeup, and in the mornings to make sure my face is super clean and oil free before applying any makeup.

La Roche Posay Rosaliac AR Intense:

I’ve always had rather red skin on my cheeks and along the side of my face, and although it could have been much worse, imageit did make applying makeup pretty difficult as I could never quite cover it up. I saw this moisturiser on offer in boots so decided I better get it while it was cheaper, as I’ve always been reluctant to pay full price for it! After reading mixed reviews on this product, I was a little apprehensive but it sure did not disappoint me. The formula is almost gel-like and a little goes a very long way. It glides on really effortlessly and absorbs super fast. I’ve only been  putting this product on the areas of redness around the edges of my face because I find it is not as hydrating as some of my other moisturisers, but I really don’t mind because it has improved my skin so much! And when I say that, trust me I’m not exaggerating! Before discovering this moisturiser, even foundation couldn’t cover the redness, but now I can go out wearing just powder, or even no makeup, and the redness is virtually undetectable! I know this product is not overly cheap, but it really does work, so I definitely recommend it if you are struggling with redness.

L’oréal Skin Perfection Cleansing and Perfecting Milk:

imageThis is definitely my favourite makeup remover, and they definitely weren’t lying when they put “skin perfection” in the name. This works beautifully to remove makeup, especially when used with a cotton pad, and leaves my skin feeling extremely soft and velvety smooth. My skin also looks visibly better after using this, and it glides on so well that it doesn’t pull or irritate my skin one bit. I’ve been using this every night to take off my makeup as I find it is just so quick and easy to use too!

Witch Overnight Clearing Serum:

I discovered this product when I was having a serious skin crisis and was in need of a quick fix for my spots. I would usually imageopt for a spot gel that only targets the problem area, as they usually tend to be quite drying. However, I decided to try a moisturiser in the hope that it would not only clear my skin, but keep it clear. This moisturised has done exactly that and it has surprised me that it is so moisturising at the same time. While I like to apply my redness moisturiser on my cheeks, I find this is really good to apply to my fore head and chin as this is where I tend to get any spots. I’ve really been loving this moisturiser and my skin has been looking noticeably better since using it.

Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1:

imageI love applying face masks and packs, but I rarely have time to leave them on as they just take so long to dry. And if I add in the time taken for cleansing and exfoliating, that’s easily a good 30 minutes spent on my face. During the exam season I certainly had to time for this, which lead me to fall in love with the Garnier Pure Active 3-in-1. This product is a cleanser, exfoliator and mask all in one and it does wonders for my skin. I always liketo leave it on as a mask as it only takes 3 minutes to dry, which is just amazing. The scrub doesn’t feel harsh on the skin but you can really feeling it declogging your pores, which I love. When I wash off the mask I can instantly see that my skin is visibly smoother and my pores look tighter. It also does a really good job at mattifying my face, without drying up my skin.

The Body Shop Skin Clearing Toner:image

This has been one of my staples for a while now. I love that you have to shake it to “activate” it as you can really tell that it is working. The cool feeling you get when it is applied is also another sign that it is amazing at its job. There’s not really much I can say about this toner, other than that it mattifies, refreshes and clears my skin, all while being super gentle.

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer:image

I was very intrigued when I saw this product on the shelves so I just had to buy it. The formula is very cooling and “wet”, which may sound strange, but on the skin it is super hydrating and absorbs instantly, leaving a smooth canvas for applying makeup. I like to use this in the morning as it is very refreshing and leaves my face hydrated all day, as well as providing the perfect base for my makeup.

Malibu SPF 30 Moisturing Lip Care:image

I have both the vanilla and tropical flavours and they both smell AMAZING! I love that they both have SPF 30, making them perefct for the summer, and they are both very moisturising too, which is why the have been my favourite lip care product over the past few weeks.

April Favourites 🌸🌱

April Favourites…

Where has the time gone? It seems just yesterday we were excitedly waiting for Christmas Day, and now it’s May already… yay, that means its time for exams (said noone, ever) I can already tell this post is going to be a long one, so on that note I think I should just jump right in with my first favourite…

imageOne thing I’ve been reaching for non stop is my MAC frosted lipstick in CB96. As you can see by how much (or little!) is left, I just can’t get enough of this lipstick. I’ve been wearing it every day since I got it mid January, and it’s getting to the point where I need to repurchase it soon! There’s really not much more I can say about this lipstick other than it is the colour I have spent years looking for. It is the perfect coral-orange shade with gold shimmer, which makes it perfect to add a but of warmth to those colder British days. Love love love!

image When I’m getting ready for school, I like to spend as little time on my makeup as possible, which is one of the reasons I loved this product last month. The Soap & Glory Kick Ass concealer is just a life saver. It came with so much product and its now all gone! I love this because it blends so easy and takes no time to apply. I also use this as my only base sometimes… I just swipe it on my face, blend and I’m good to go!

My next favourite is also base related… The Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream is so easy to blend and gives my skin a lovely, glowing and dewy finish perfect for summer, without making my face oily. The colour is also perfect too and I love how it doesn’t feel cakey in the slightest!
imageWhen the sun starts to come out, I am a huge fan of highlighter to add a subtle glow to my face, and in April my favourite highlight has definitely been from the Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette in Fair. This highlight is a gorgeous white/ champagne colour with flecks of shimmer that add a really beautiful glow to the cheekbones and high points of the face. I’ve also been pairing it with my favourite blush from the same palette… It’s a really stunning coral/pink colour with gold shimmer and I absolutely love it!

image My last makeup favourite isn’t really a makeup product but it is the Real Techniques Core Collection. I picked up this set at the end of march as it was on offer for a brilliant £14.99 and I haven’t put them down since! I have been using the pointed foundation brush to apply my BB cream, and the buffing brush to blend it in and I’ve been really happy with the results! I also love the contour brush as it is perfect for applying highlight, and I’ve been using the detailed brush to blend out concealer, and to highlight under my brow bone and in the corner of my eyes. If you haven’t yet tried them, I definitely suggest it!

imageI don’t know about you, but using a separate face wash, scrub and mask can sometimes seem like a chore, so when I discovered the Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1, I knew I could never turn back! I’ve been applying it like I would a normal scrub, but then leaving it on until it dries as a mask and the results have been amazing. My skin literally feels squeaky clean after using it and it feels so smooth to touch. This is definitely my new obsession!

In terms of moisturiser, I’ve been using Nivea Express Hydration Primer religiously every morning. I apply it to my face when I wake up and it leaves m skin soft, refreshed and ready for my makeup to be applied!

imageIn the evenings I’ve been using the Witch Overnight Clearing Serum as I had some spots on my forehead and chin, but after using this for a month my skin is so much clearer… It is literally is amazing!

My favourite hair product of the month has to be the Tresemme Perfectly Undone Wave Creating Sea Foam. This mousse was literally created by the sea gods… It is amazing! All you do is squeeze 4-5 pumps through your hair, scrunch or braid it, and when it’s dry you have the perfect beach waves. Whenever I used to plait my hair overnight, I had to touch it up with curlers in the morning, but since using this product I haven’t used heat all month!

I’m not usually fussy with shampoo and condition et as they all do the same for my hair, but recently I’ve been loving the Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day products, as they smell amazing and the packaging is so cute!

My favourite body spray of April was definitely The Body Shop Fijian Lotus Water. This spray is the perfect mix between fresh and floral and just smells so good. I really can’t describe it’s beauty enough, so I suggest you just go and smell it for yourself!

As I just mentioned, I’ve been loving the fresh, spring scent of Fijian Water Lotus from The Body Shop. Combined with my favourite perfume of the month, Escada Born In Paradise, I feel like I’ve been transported to a tropical paradise where it’s always summer! Born In Paradise is my all time favourite perfume…  When I first got it last summer, I fell in love with the notes of pineapple and coconut (my two favourite scents) and could not wait to get it again this year, so when I got it for my birthday I haven’t been a day without wearing it!

Keeping with the tropical theme, my favourite candle has been the Yankee Candle Pineapple Cilantro. There’s not much more I can say about this candle other than it is pure heaven. I have an obsession with pineapples so this candle is just life (as you can see from how much it’s been burned!)

Finally, here are a selection of other things I’ve been loving in the past month…

TV Programme: Supervet, of course!

Youtuber: I’ve been watching Sunbeamsjess, Meghan Rienks and Shani Grimmond non-stop!

Music: I’ve been obsessed with Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy, Hozier and The Vamps… I went to see The Vamps last night at the O2 and it was AMAZING!! I’ll be posting about that, and my shopping trip soon!

So that’s all my favourites from the month of April… 🌸

First Impressions: Le Bunny Bleu 🐰

First Impressions: Le Bunny Bleu

Le Bunny Bleu is a New York based brand which sells vintage inspired items, including shoes bags and diaries. According to their website, the brand aims to bring the modern New York fashion scene into the romantic European vintage era, creating a unique trend on how shoes are worn.

I don’t know about any of you, but personally I had never heard of this brand until very imagerecently. Although the brand is American, the Uk has a store in Westfield Stratford, London, which is where I visited. I first heard about this brand on Boxing Day, when I received a pair of their shoes as a christmas gift. When I saw the bag I immediately noticed how cute it was and I loved the adorable little rabbit and pretty blue colour. Because I had never heard of the brand, I wasn’t too sure what they sold at first as the bag just said ‘Romantic Vintage’, but later discovered they sell shoes as well as bags, diaries, scarves, jewellery and hair accessories.

The first pair of shoes I got was this pair of espadrilles as a present from my dad. The shape of these shoes is of a similar style to TOMS, and they have a sturdy white rubber sole, almost reminiscent of the soles on Converse and Vans. The fabric is a brown tweedy material with gold flecks, which add an extra bit of colour and sparkle! They also have a little pink bunny logo on the front side, which I think is really cute and makes them really unique. Although it is too cold in England to wear these right now, I definitely think they will look really cute in the summer with some cute shorts and a floaty tee! From trying them on, they also feel super comfy too!

One issue I discovered with the brand, however, is sizing.  When my dad went to purchase these shoes, he asked for a UK 6 (which is a US 8) but later discovered he was given a US 9, which is actually a UK 7. On the sizing chart on the website, as seen to the right, it shows that US shoe sizes are 2 sizes bigger than UK sizes. However, every person working in the store was insistent that US sizes are 3 sizes bigger than UK sizes, hence why my shoes were too big! I find that I tend to need a smaller size anyway with slip on shoes like these, so the bigger size was obviously way too big!

My dad was already taking my sister and I to London the next day, so we popped in to the store in Stratford to exchange the shoes for the right size. Although the store wasn’t very big, they had lots of items on display and the pastel colours made the shop seem relatively big and airy, which was nice. The first thing I noticed was that there was currently a 20% off sale, which was good in itself, but then I also noticed there was a 2 for £15 offer on the clearance items! I found some really pretty shoes that were 2 for £15 which I would have loved to buy, but they only had the display shoes left, which were all size 3 😦 Some of the deals were amazing though. I was looking at a pair online for $60, which is around £40, but they were in store for only £10!

Although I couldn’t get any shoes in the 2 for £15 offer, I managed to bag this pair for only £19.19! For some reason, despite my love for shoes, the only pairs I ever wear are my tan cuffed boots, my converse and my tatty (I prefer to call them well-loved) 3 year old Primark loafers, so I was desperately in need of a new pair! When I saw these on the shelf I knew I had to have them! They are a loafer style shoe, with a sturdy sole and small heel. They feature a brown herringbone pattern and a leather tassel, which I just love!  The material seems really strong so hopefully these should last a while! I can’t wait to wear them because they are just so cute!

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturiser ✨

imageI was recently on the hunt for a new moisturiser when I came across this beauty in boots for only £4.99 for a 50ml tube. Initially it was the packaging that caught my attention. The bright orange colour really popped on the shelf and caught my eye, so I had to have  a closer look. I was then even more excited when I realised it was by neutrogena. Although I’ve  heard many great things about this brand, I’ve only ever tried a couple of their products (both of which I loved!)  However, I decided it was time to try more…or maybe I was just looking for an excuse to add yet another product to my skincare routine!

Okay, so I have been using this moisturiser for just over a week now and thought it was time to do a ‘first impressions’ review of it. First up, I love the packaging! As I said before, I really like the fresh youthful colours, but I love the shape too! It is thin so it is easy to store and it looks sleek too! The nozzle is really nice too. It is quite long, and there is an inner tube in the cap to stop any excess building up, so it’s a lot more hygienic than your regular moisturiser tube. I also really like that it isn’t a flip cap…I mean lets be honest, how many times have you accidentally flipped the cap when it’s in your makeup bag, leaving a lovely splodge of cream all over the place? Not great. But with this cap, that would never happen! And it’s really easy to twist…you won’t be sitting there for hours trying to get into the thing!

Next up is the formulation. The cream itself is unscented, but it still has a creamy, fresh scent to it and doesn’t smell at all artificial. It’s not so thin it’s almost watery, but it’s not so thick it takes all day to sink in to your skin…it’s a happy medium! When you apply it, it instantly sinks into your skin and leaves it feeling smooth, hydrated, soft and nourished. It doesn’t leave it feeling sticky or greasy in the slightest, which is something I often find with moisturisers. It also doesn’t leave your skin feeling almost ‘watery’ as this is an issue I tend to have with the Simole replenishing moisturisers.

I love using this neutrogena moisturiser in the morning as it also makes a great base for makeup. It creates a really soft, smooth canvas for applying your makeup and means you don’t even need to use a primer! Not only does it leave my skin feeling prepped for makeup, it leaves it prepped for those no-makeup lazy days! I tend to suffer from frequent breakouts, redness and an oily nose-all those not-so-lovely but regular teenage skincare issues- but since using this moisturiser, even for just a week, my skin looks noticeably better! Last night after applying it, I really noticed how much my redness had been reduced…for the first time in quite a while my skin looked healthy and glowing…and for only £4.99!

I really can’t wait to see how my skin improves with this moisturiser. If it continues working like it has been for the past week, I think I will have to start calling it the miracle cream!
